ドドネウス「草木誌」
DODONAEUS, Rembertus. Cruydt-Boeck, volghens sijne laetste verbeteringhe: met biivoeghsels achter elck capitel, uyt verscheyden cruydt-beschrijvers: item, in 't laetste een beschrijvinghe vande Indiaensche ghewassen, meest ghetrocken uyt de schriften van Carolus Clusius. Eighteenth-century (?) half calf, with richly decorated and gilt stamped thick wall-paper with floral motives pasted on both sides. Richly engraved title with a view into a fine garden seen through an architectural gate decorated with fruits and plants and 2 medallion portraits of Dodonaeus and Clusius below, and with 1470 woodcuts of herbs in text, large historiated woodcut initials, tail-piece with printer's device, and large printer's device of the Plantin workshop on the recto of the last leaf (verso bla nk). (36), 1492, (59, 1 blank) pp. Third revised edition in Dutch of this monumental herbal. Fine copy. (Some wormholes at the end). 本書の初版は、1583年にアントワープで出版されたラテン語版です。我が国に将来されたものは1618年と1644年に刊行されたオランダ語版です。1659年にオランダ長崎商館長から1618年版が献上され、その後西洋書物の中で最も多くの人に利用されたと言われています。野呂元丈や青木文蔵等によって本書の抄訳「和蘭本草和解」が1716年に出版されました。我が国における所蔵も極めて少ない稀覯書です。
